Jamila: Melrose Park tutor
Certified Tutor
I graduated from The University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Science in Education, then earned a master's degree in Curriculum Development and Classroom Instruction from Michigan State University. I also hold a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Classroom Instruction from the University of Phoenix. I am a strong advocate for education, believing it is essential for enhancing quality of life, and I strive to instill this appreciation in my students.
I spent 25 years as a classroom teacher, instructing grades K5, before transitioning to administration as an assistant principal for three years and then serving as a principal in a PreK8 school for five years. Recently, I've taken on tutoring two children, ages 4 and 6, in reading, language arts, and math. I'm proud to report that both students are performing above grade level in these subjects. My passion lies in meeting students where they are academically and helping them advance to the next level without being constrained by their current grades. I tailor my instruction to each individual learner.
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, particularly cruising, spending time with my family, and helping others embrace their lives.
In 2018, I authored a book about overcoming grief, sharing my personal experiences after my mother's unexpected passing.
