Langley: Richmond Hill tutor
Certified Tutor
I am an art instructor and visual artist. I have an MFA in Studio Art with a concentration in photography and I love to teach students of all ages!
I taught high school art and photography as a certified teacher of Art K-12 in the Texas public school system before moving to Virginia where I became a licensed teacher of Art Pre-K-12. I taught Pre-K to 8 grade art in the classroom for several years before going to grad school and opening my own art school, where I currently teach art, art history, and photography for ages 2 to adult online. I also teach part-time in the Department of Visual Art & Design at Southeastern Louisiana University.
When I am not teaching, I work as an artist in photography and design and exhibit my work internationally. I have served on several art committees and presented my work at SECAC (Southeastern College Art Conference). My work has received awards from Tokyo International Foto Awards, France Bioimaging, and the Nikon Small World Photomicrography Competition, among others.
As a teacher, I enjoy tying multiple subjects into my lessons. In addition to learning new techniques and creating works of art, students will often also be exposed to theory, history, music, math, and science.
I strive to adapt my lessons to the learning style of each student and offer an environment that is relaxed and fun!
