As part of a dual program at The University of Toledo, I graduated with a Masters in Secondary Education and a Professional Teaching License for English 7-12, certification that has been recently renewed. At Miami University of Ohio, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication. I have worked in education for twenty-five years in the following positions: high school English teacher, college English faculty, ACT/SAT tutor, and Humanities & Essay Review tutor. While I have tutored a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, literature, and composition. My experience helping students to bridge the gap between their learning levels and their grade levels in reading and math has produced more confident students and increased academic ability. My job as a tutor is to guide students on their learning journey using the best tools at my disposal, to develop independent thinkers, to embrace my students' uniqueness, and to encourage personal and ethical growth. The ways in which I help students accomplish academic achievements is through clear communication, constructive criticism, examples, coaching using a feedback loop, planning for rigor in the classroom, and implementing differentiation.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching British mystery series, and keeping company with my cats. I am interested in architecture in general, with specifically affinity for Gustav Stickley's Craftsman movement, Frank Lloyd Wright's residential homes, and Frederick Law Olmstead's landscapes.
