Kaitlyn: Suffolk County tutor
Certified Tutor
I am about to achieve a bachelor's in mathematics from SNHU this coming July (2025). I have both personal and professional experience in tutoring children from third to eighth grade. I am a member of the Teach Colorado program where I am working towards getting licensure to teach middle school level mathematics.
My tutoring approach depends on the child, but I often like to let the kids I work with drive their own sessions. What are they struggling with? What do they feel confident in? When it comes to a certain problem, how would they solve it? With that base understanding, I can gain an insight into how they learn and process mathematics on an individual basis. From there, we work together to build confidence and mathematical skills.
I also previously worked with the Americorps Math Corps which involved tutoring groups of up to three kids in their current classroom curriculum. This involved reiteration and practice of mathematical concepts that they were learning in their traditional classes.
Sometimes kids just need someone with a little extra patience and the ability to be get individual assistance to really understand concepts that may not come as easily to them. I pride myself on allowing the students I work with to come to their own realizations and successes while working through the frustrations and confusion that often accompany mathematical concepts.
I look forward to working with whoever needs my help!
