Certified Tutor
I received my education from the University of Manitoba, where I earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. This rigorous program equipped me with a strong foundation in Mathematics and the sciences, as well as firsthand experience with the challenges of learning and critical thinking. Currently, I am working towards a teaching degree at the University of Winnipeg to further enhance my teaching skills and knowledge.
My tutoring journey began with my younger brother, helping him navigate the complexities of mathematics and reading from middle school through high school. This experience sparked my passion for teaching and allowed me to develop effective strategies for breaking down difficult concepts into manageable steps. Additionally, I have volunteered and worked in various educational roles. For instance, I taught and implemented educational initiatives at Positive Life Kenya (PLK), focusing on menstruation health and basic English grammar in schools.
I specialize in tutoring Mathematics and the sciences, with a particular focus on helping students excel in these subjects. Mathematics is my favorite subject to tutor because I love seeing students transform from feeling overwhelmed to feeling confident and capable. I enjoy making math relatable and showing how it underpins many aspects of the world around us.
My teaching philosophy centers on patience, clarity, and encouragement. I believe in creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. By taking it one step at a time and using real-world examples, I aim to build a solid understanding and foster a love for learning.
Outside of academia, I am passionate about running and weightlifting, which help me prioritize physical and mental well-being. Additionally, I have a deep interest in music, particularly playing the alto saxophone. This creative outlet has enhanced my ability to connect with students on a personal level and bring a sense of balance to my life.
My goal is to help students not only improve their academic performance but also develop the confidence and skills they need to tackle future challenges. Let's work together to turn those daunting quadratic equations and long division problems into opportunities for growth and success!
