I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I graduated Ringling College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. Though I spent most of my college years focused on courses on Children's Book Art, I also spent time learning traditional and digital typography, screen printing, renaissance art history, and many more specialized art subjects. Since graduating I have been working as a freelance children's book sketch artist, taking on art commissions, selling my own art prints, and working as a fun art teacher at Painting With A Twist. Though I am still working towards my goal to fully illustrate and publish my own Children's book, I have always had a desire to teach art. Art is a way to communicate across all language and social barriers and it should be an accessible tool to anyone willing to pursue it. My high school art teacher showed me that and encouraged me to pursue art in a profession capacity. Until her encouragement, I didn't realize art could be an option for me, but under her guidance I began to find my artistic voice. I want each student I work with to feel the same way, and not just discover their voice, but learn how to turn it into a symphony. My goal as a tutor and teacher is to see everyone I work with as an individual with unique ideas, and to help them polish those ideas into a masterpiece.

Hobbies

As a life long learner I am always interesting in learning something new. As of right now I enjoy watercolor, oil paints, Linocut Printing, digital art, knitting, crochet, sewing, and mural painting. But I soon hope to add book binding, engraving, leather craft, and glassblowing into my repertoire. Beyond art I enjoy reading, chill gaming, Bible study, playing with my dog, and I am aiming to get back into distance running soon.
