It feels magical to see someone else surpass their previous limits thanks to guiding questions and examples. Tutoring is also a way to give back, as I was once the one getting helped. I have tutored STEM students, using both Spanish and English, ranging from adults learning first year Engineering courses to 4th graders learning basic math.
I graduated with honours from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Being a broad field, I focus on tutoring: Statics and Mechanics of materials. Intro to Mechatronics and Control Systems. Calculus I, II and III. Linear Algebra I. Numerical Methods.
Also, I could provide basic assistance in programming, thermodynamics, materials, and other concepts related to Mechanical Engineering.
Note: all my undergraduate notes are in English.
I really enjoy tutoring Physics, specifically Newtonian Mechanics and 1st year Electromagnetism, as they exemplify how we can get insight of the world and can be used to help others.
Through guiding questions, I use the Socratic method to gauge the student's understanding, help them work through problems, and invite further reflection.
Nevertheless, we can try other methods that still promote actual learning.
In my free time I enjoy swimming, listening to music, and having interesting conversations.
