When I decided I wanted to go to college, I had already been working for a while. So, I started part time at Illinois Central College, a community college. There I found that I love Geology and Math. I continued on to the University of Arizona where I double majored in geology and math. But, geology is my true passion. So, I decided to pursue a PhD in geology, but made sure that my research involved math. I ended up at the University of Washington researching magma kinematics and dynamics.
While I was at the UW, I taught hundreds of students about geology for 6 years. I've given lectures to classes of 100+ students, taught hands-on laboratory sections, and provided one-on-one instruction to many students. I found that I really enjoy teaching and interacting with students, and that I care about helping students understand their lesson material. I bring my enthusiasm and interest about geology and math to every lesson, and hope that my students can feel excited too.

I have the typical hobbies you would associate with a geologist: hiking, camping, rock and mineral collecting. But, I also enjoy going to live shows and concerts, cooking, gardening, playing guitar, and computer gaming.
