Hello!
I am a Brazilian/American Francophile, who have been a language teacher (English/Portuguese/French) for over 25 years. I was educated at an International School and I have worked at various Berlitz Language Institutes around the world, including the Centers in Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon, Berlin and Austin, Texas.
I now live in Florida.
In the past, I also taught languages at Oil Rigs (Petrobras and TransOcean) off the Brazilian coast, teaching English to the Brazilian crew and Portuguese to the foreign one. That was super exciting and I got to ride a helicopter to go to work every two weeks!
I have an Associate's degree in French ( I have lived in Paris and travelled to France various times) and a Bachelor's in
History and Anthropology from the University of Texas.
I love to enrich my classes with cultural, geographical, geopolitical and current events related to the language we are studying. After all, language is culture!!
Most of my students are business professionals, as well as worldly tourists, who need to learn a foreign language fast, usually for a future trip or stay abroad. However, in the past, I have also taught youngsters (between 10 and 15) in private homes as well as virtually.
My methodology has an emphasis on conversation, little grammar, some reading and writing, plus all the cultural background related to the language/countries in question.
I like to think of myself as a " citizen of the world" , a "cosmopolitan" (in fact, my favorite drink!).
I love to meet different people, from different cultures and backgrounds.
Besides being a language instructor and enthousiast, I am also a world traveller and an Indie writer, with three novels published on Amazon under the name : Isabela Pamelli Martins.
" Copadrama" , the first one, (published in 2009) is a fun, satirical Rio romantic story.
" Bye Bye Brasil; Hello America!" (available only for Portuguese readers) is inspired on true stories of Brazilian immigrants in the U.S.
Finally, " Pamelli's Accelerator" is designed specifically for Portuguese Students.
