Hi!
I've been teaching for 13 years in the fields of Art and Environmental Education. Within these disciplines, I have also focused on helping students to improve their language skills in reading, writing and ESL. I have a background in alternative pedagogy and orient my teaching philosophy around student driven and project based learning, as well as holistic youth mentorship. I love to work with students to help them discover their interests and craft individually tailored learning that grows out of what they're curious and passionate about. Along with reading and writing tutoring, I can also offer students mentorship and tutoring in their creative interests, especially in visual art, design, performance art, creative writing, music, art history and ecological design/planning. These tutoring areas are also where I work as a freelance artist, so I can offer mentorship for young artists to understand and pursue these interests in a professional context.
I can especially offer support to students who have struggled in traditional public school systems, are neurodivergent or are dealing with challenging life experiences outside of school; students who are looking for alternative approaches to learning to fully actualize their potential and bloom into the best version of themselves that they can be.
