I am passionate about education because having worked in business as an accountant for 13 years and then as a substitute teacher and a math tutor for another 13 years I know the importance of having a strong education in the basic subjects of reading, math, science,
social studies and writing. As an accountant I had to know how to reconcile the company's checking statement and do inventory calculations using math including
fractions and decimals. I also had to how to write well in order to communicate with customers about their accounts.
As a substitute teacher and tutor for 13 years, I had to know all the basic subjects you learn in elementary school in order to help the my students with that day's lessons so they would be able to move forward without having their regular teacher have to use valuable time to repeat teaching concepts.
As a elementary math tutor for 13 years, I had know all the basic concepts of teaching math to my students from learning their numbers to algebra.
I am a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a bachelor's degree in accounting. I have my master of arts in teaching from Sacred Heart University.
I don't have any plans at this time to work towards any other degrees, but I am leaving the possibility open because I believe that a person never stops learning
and you always make time to broaden your horizons, especially with the use of the internet and the increasingly new technologies that are being discovered every day.
I tutor all elementary school subjects including reading, math, science, social studies and writing.
I've always loved history because I believe we can learn so much about improving our future by studying the past history of our country and the our world. I took honors and Advanced Placement history courses in my my last 3 years of high school because if you don't learn from your past you might repeat it. I believe the purpose of education in helping you succeed in life and moving the world forward.
