I received my B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on early education and English, from Virginia Intermont College. I completed the Library Media Specialist endorsement program at The University of Virginia at Wise. I have spent the last twenty-one years teaching public middle and high school. I am currently the Library Media Specialist at a local high school. I have always been passionate about helping students develop a love of reading, but I also enjoy watching them build confidence in all subject areas as they learn basic skills and beyond. Reading, grammar, and math are my absolute favorite subjects to teach and tutor. While test prep is a necessity, I believe a student's success is much more than a score on a standardized test. I believe student success is being able to face any task head on and tackle it one step at a time simply because you have the confidence in yourself to know that you will conquer it because you have been given the skills to do so.
