Glenna: Melrose Park tutor
Certified Tutor
I am a graduate of Carolina University where I studied Deaf Studies: ASL Interpreting and received my Bachelor of Science Degree in 2020. Prior Education includes: Associate of Arts in General Education; Two Associates of Arts and Sciences in both Speech Language Pathology Assistant and Interpreter Education.
For the past twenty years, I worked as an American Sign Language Interpreter in the K-12 school setting. I had many Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. I communicated what the teacher said and tutored them on concepts to aid in their learning.
Now, I have knowledge in a wide range of subjects and am passionate about empowering students to become all they can be. Helping students read and learning their language is another of my passions. I believe it is important to learn and attain knowledge to propel oneself to the next level of learning.
Since graduation in 2020, I have begun teaching American Sign Language (ASL) in our area Community College. It is my hope to share the Deaf's language and culture with the Hearing culture in our area allowing them to learn about Deaf Community.
I began a Deaf Community group called Deaf Day Chat so that those who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Hearing, who use ASL, can become a part of a greater Deaf Community in our area. So, in my spare time, I set up Deaf Events. It is my desire that the Deaf will follow in suit and start their own Deaf Events.
