Without a passion for learning, students can lose focus and interest in completing their courseor worse, their education. Which is why I believe in the saying, "Love what you teach, and they will love it too." I am 20 years old and I am a Junior at the College of William and Mary with the aspirations to go to medical school. As a student myself, I know that the best way for a teacher to grab the students attention is to harness the power of a student's curiosity. Effective learning starts with learner relevance, and every subject can prove valuable once a student sees a connection between the content and their life. Linking concepts to local cases, current issues, news and eventsespecially those that impact my studentsis another way I make my course more relatable and learner-centric. I hope to excite my students, and help them develop a love for learning. As a student myself, I very much understand how learning online has its positives and negatives. I believe that being a student during this time in age, helps me to be a better teacher.
