Certified Tutor
I completed my Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Robotics at SASTRA University, Tanjore, India (20142018), followed by a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Robotics and a minor in Computer Science at the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, CO (20182020). Most recently, I completed my Master of Engineering in System Design Engineering, specializing in Vision, Image, and Signal Processing, at the University of Waterloo, Canada (2024).
During my childhood, I had a tutor for Mathematics, which ignited my passion for the subject and inspired me to pursue a career in technology and engineering. I am driven by the desire to pay forward the support and encouragement I received from my tutor, aiming to inspire and empower students in the same way. Witnessing the transformative effect that personalized guidance and mentorship can have on a student's academic and personal growth fuels my dedication to tutoring.
My tutoring journey began during my school years when I excelled in Mathematics, consistently achieving top ranks in my classes. Without a tutor during my boarding school days, I naturally became the go-to resource for peers seeking assistance with Mathematics. Later, I expanded this passion by volunteering with a university team to tutor underprivileged children in nearby villages, offering support to students without access to formal tutoring. At the Colorado School of Mines, I served as a Teaching Assistant for a Computer Vision course (20192020), guiding undergraduate and graduate students through advanced concepts. Later, during my master's at the University of Waterloo, I was a Teaching Assistant for Elementary Engineering Mathematics (2024), supporting students in strengthening their mathematical problem-solving foundations.
Beyond tutoring, my professional and academic experiences have strengthened my ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly. I worked as a Computer Vision Engineer at Mindhome in Louisville, CO (20202021), where I developed stereo vision systems for autonomous robots, including real-time fire detection and visual odometry. Later, I served as a Robotics System Integration Engineer at 6 River Systems (Shopify Logistics), Remote USA (20212023), where I implemented tools and system improvements that enhanced efficiency for dozens of clients and streamlined deployment processes.
My academic projects include Stereo Visual Odometry using Deep Learning (2024), Semantic Segmentation with PyTorch (self-directed, 2023), and Passive Video Liveness Detection using Vision Transformers (2024). The last project led to a research paper published in the Journal of Computational Vision and Imaging Systems in 2025. Earlier, during my master's at Mines, I also developed an Authorization System using Face Recognition (2019) that achieved high accuracy with neural networks and SVMs.
My teaching philosophy revolves around creating a supportive and interactive learning environment. I tailor my approach to each student, using visual aids, hands-on exercises, or real-world applications. My goal is not only to help students master the material but also to build lasting confidence and curiosity that extends beyond the classroom.
Outside of academics, I enjoy photography, hiking, and solving Rubik's Cubes, which allow me to explore creativity and problem-solving from different angles.
In summary, my educational background (three degrees across India, the U.S., and Canada), professional experience in robotics and computer vision, dual teaching assistantships in Computer Vision and Mathematics, hands-on tutoring, and published research make me a dedicated and effective tutor. I look forward to continuing to inspire and empower students, particularly in Mathematics, Computer Vision, and Python programming.
