Certified Tutor

Students who are able to overcome controlled, low stakes challenges are conditioned to effectively face the inevitable adversity presented to them later in life with grace and unflappability. Resiliency is maybe one of the most important skills in the adult life, and as a tutor I have the privilege to provide them with the opportunity to hone this skill.

I am passionate about teaching and adore tutoring. During my Science Teaching Apprenticeship at High Mountain Institute this past fall, where I designed and taught high school level science curricula, one piece of feedback I received from many students was that I was good at answering clarifying questions. A skill relevant to the students who need an extra helping hand of tutoring.

I graduated from Smith College in 2020 with Majors in Biology and Spanish. I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in ornithology (birds!) , which I have been passionate about since I was 12 years old.

I have experience working with students from ages 3.5 through adult. I have taught and lesson planned science curricula in formal classroom settings, and have tutored ESL high school students studying for their state-administered science exam. I have tutored peers both in groups and one-on-one in high school and informally in college.

My tutoring style is student-based and personalized entirely to their needs. This is the beauty of tutoring, that the student gets the attention and help that THEY need, not drowning in a classroom full of students. I spend the first 10 minutes of the introductory session getting to know the student and how they learn best, and hope to establish a trusting relationship right off the bat.

I am passionate about learning and about tutoring. I've been told that my enthusiasm is infectious, and my steady personality is the perfect combination for helping and putting at ease any struggling student, or any student looking to go the extra step.
