Ryan: Georgia tutor
Certified Tutor
I am an undergraduate student at the University of Virginia, studying biomedical engineering and music. In high school, I tutored students from Algebra 1 to Calculus BC as President of Math Honor Society. For 45 minutes a week, I would help students struggling with core concepts one-on-one by going through example problems and fundamental concepts. I am also currently an undergraduate teaching assistant for Ordinary Differential Equations, where I help a classroom of 60 students for three hours a week and host weekly office hours to help clarify confusing topics.
While I primarily tutor students in math, I enjoy tutoring a broad range of topics, specifically music theory, physics, and SAT prep. I love getting to know my students on a personal level. I make sure that they feel confident in themselves at the end of each session. Through positive reinforcement, I help students develop a growth mindset; I praise students for their efforts and progress, not just their outcomes.
When I'm not doing schoolwork, you can find me music directing for the Virginia Gentlemen, UVA's premiere acapella group, or singing with the UVA choir. I also love to run, hike around Charlottesville's beautiful mountains, and take care of my seven plants!
