Certified Tutor

I have been involved in teaching and education in multiple capacities since high school. My love for learning and sharing knowledge with others has crossed several career paths and opened my life up to many opportunities. I initially began my career as a school psychologist and was pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology when I found a passion in search and rescue. This led to further education and certification as an Emergency Medical Technician and a career shift to become a full-time firefighter. I completed my Ph.D. while working as a career firefighter and published my dissertation, a book and several articles on juvenile fire-setters. Within the fire service, I also obtained my fire instructor certification and have enjoyed teaching technical rescue, arson investigation and a variety of other classes statewide. Most recently, I served as the Bureau Commander for the Recruiting and Hiring Division of the largest career fire department in the State of Kentucky. In this capacity I developed several classes to help applicants prepare for the interview and also the physical ability test. Being able to help aspiring young people achieve their career goals is very rewarding and important to me. I had several people who helped me, and I can pay it forward to thank them.

I retired after 22 years of career fire service and started my own company. I am currently the CEO/Owner of Fire Recruit Prep, a consulting and coaching company that helps fire recruit applicants prepare for written exams, interviews, physical ability tests and completion of background paperwork. Additionally, I am a certified personal trainer and nutrition coach and work with first responders to help them more effectively train to do their jobs. I have been able to pull from my previous background in education and psychology to help individuals more effectively learn and also navigate life's challenges to reach their goals.
