Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Texas College. I received my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Management. Since graduation, I have worked in various areas of education from daycare, to tutoring and the public school system. I've worked in the public school for over 10 years in the area of Special Education. I worked with students from K-12 helping children with special needs in the general education setting. I have a passion for working with elementary students in the area of reading. I was given this opportunity working as a Resource/Inclusion Teacher during an internship. I was five points away from passing my teacher certification exam. I'm with Texas Teachers and will be taking the certification exam again to get back in the classroom. Since working as an intern teacher it gave me great to see the excitement as students achieve their reading goals. I liked watching their confidence build as they learn reading skills. I am most passionate about Reading Comprehension and Fluency. Reading is key to everything in life. Students struggle in other subject because of their struggles in reading. As an intern I was afforded the opportunity to help build up student reading levels who were two or more grade levels behind in reading. I even private tutored a student who I taught as an intern who was autistic. I gained a rapport with parents because of the time and patience it takes to work with a child who has challenges academically as well as challenges that come with their condition. I impart this appreciation of reading to all of my students by making learning and celebrating their accomplishments with them. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and writing. I published my first book June 16, 2023 and I'm working to another book for publication..
