I am a graduate of Durham University, receiving a 2.1 in BA Criminology degree in June 2018. After I left university I worked for three years as a prison officer in a secure training centre and a young offender's institution, supporting young people between the ages of 12 and 18 in their rehabilitation and caring for their day-to-day needs. During this time I was on the Unlocked Graduates scheme and received a bespoke Master's Degree in Leadership and Custodial Environments, graduating with a distinction in 2020.

During my time in the prison service I developed my passion for supporting and helping young people, and decided to leave the service to pursue this passion within the education sector. I spent 8 months working for a Special educational needs school in Kent as a Learning Support Assistant, supporting young people with autism and ADHD with their studies and also their work out in the community on more practical courses.

I took the decision last year to apply for the competitive Teach First graduate programme that aims to place dedicated graduates in schools in areas where the need for committed and caring teachers is most needed, and have recently obtained my Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) after completing my training year. I have taught maths to pupils aged between 11 and 16 including Year 11s in their final GCSE year.
