My Bachelor's degree in the Arts and Science program at McMaster University has taught me the value of academic excellence in all fields for a well-rounded education. This multi-disciplinary program that supplements STEM classes with unique courses in the social sciences and humanities has provided me with core knowledge in a wide range of subjects. It has highlighted the importance of holistic educational proficiency for tackling future problems career and otherwise and this has motivated a desire to help students achieve in their areas of need. As a former camp counsellor, I love taking students outside of their comfort zone and support them in their engagement with challenging material and concepts. Tutoring is the perfect way to combine my knowledge and program philosophy with my passion for mentorship. In particular, being from a specialized and accelerated high school STEM program, I love bringing these skills into tutoring Math and Sciences. Drawing from a camp philosophy, I think teaching works best when it's dynamic and fun. I try to keep students constantly engaged with practice questions/ written responses, working to make sure that they understand the concepts deeply rather than just memorizing how to do a question.
