I am a third year medical student at Loyola University Chicago. I have experience tutoring pre-med college students and 1st and 2nd year medical students for their admission exams (MCAT and USMLE Step 1) and find that it helps to have someone who is in the same boat. I also have experience teaching elementary students to read and write.
As a student myself, I know how important having the right educator is to learning. Not everyone learns in the same way and I think every student deserves to make sure they are being taught or explained something in a way that makes sense to them. My teaching philosophy is focusing on figuring out how to make the learning "fun" by getting learners excited about what they know / what their potential is. Finding new ways to teach a topic can help alleviate that frustration and can give the "ah ha" moment all learners love. I am curious and eager to learn from the students as much as they are. I think bringing the perspective of a student to tutor other students (although at a different stage) allows for more of a connection to be formed and perhaps can help facilitate the ease of understanding topics.
Outside of academia, I love biking, cooking, and playing with my cat! I am excited to meet learners.
