I am an impact driven writer, civic leader and educator with 6 years of experience in the educational space. I have cross cultural teaching experience having taught in the United Kingdom and in Ghana. I have a passion for geography and politics. As a geography teacher, I want to help my pupils understand more about how people are affected by the environment and how we shape the world we live in. As a politics teacher, I want to encourage my students to become responsible citizens and to participate in and understand society's decision-making processes. Most recently graduated from the University of Hull with a Masters in Education, Inclusion and Special Needs. This has allowed me to demonstrate a strong understanding of inclusive educational practices and learning disabilities. I also hold an undergraduate degree in Political Science with Geography from the University of Education, Winneba. During my time as an educator, I have proven I have the ability of driving positive change in schools and sustainably shaping the lives of students. I collaborate with others to address grassroot and systemic challenges that my students and schools face.
Throughout my numerous experiences I have learnt different lessons and values that has shaped my teaching career. I have learned that being an effective teacher is an art that takes time, devotion and continuous reflection of teaching skills. My experience with underserved schools and interactions with LRTT coaches have taught me how to make use of limited resources to create a conducive environment and deliver lessons that will enable students succeed.
I would say my greatest achievement so far was, through my capstone project, I successfully secured computers and a discovery learning centre for Gumani Methodist Junior High School, a deprived public school in Northern Ghana.
