Brittany
Certified Tutor
As a Sonographer Educator at the University of Pittsburgh, I combine more than 15 years of medical imaging experience with a genuine passion for developing confident, clinically skilled learners. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and currently teach ultrasound within the integrated medical curriculum, guiding medical students as they learn to apply ultrasound in real clinical decision-making. In addition to my academic role, I have instructed Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) courses through UC San Diego, supporting physicians and healthcare professionals in expanding their bedside imaging proficiency.
My teaching philosophy is hands-on, interactive, and learner-focused. I create an encouraging environment where students can ask questions, think critically, and connect ultrasound findings to patient care. Few things are more rewarding than watching a student go from uncertainty to recognizing pathology in real time and understanding the clinical significance of what they see.
During tutoring sessions, I offer live scanning demonstrations using my Butterfly iQ3 and GE Vscan handheld ultrasound devices, allowing students to visualize anatomy and pathology dynamically. I also provide registry-style mock exams and targeted review to help learners prepare confidently for credentialing exams.
