I believe achieving greatness in life is limited only by a persons' mindset. When someone feels, thinks and talks defeated all the time, they begin to believe they are defeated. I believe everyone can learn anything if they have the right tools and time to think through it. I struggled in math, but my dad would not allow me to give up! He pushed me and now, I see the validity of math in everyday life and how it has taught me to think differently and be so strong in solving life's problems. I have a degree in elementary education and a strong pre-med background. When I was taking my higher math and science coursework, I would write down all the problems and notes and help my fellow students study. One of them never stepped foot into Physics and Calculus but was able to get A+++ in both! She saw me several years later and thanked me for all my notes. My passion is teaching reading using phonics. I am a very slow reader and struggled for years with reading comprehension. My 5th grade teacher let me use hooked on phonics and it changed my life! I have also trained in the development of reading skills from birth through school age and adult literacy using phonics. I love children and tutoring. I am able to relate to something being difficult and it brings something extra to the table for the student to see that a tutor/teacher understands and cares about their struggle and success. I will believe with you and help you reach what you may think and feel is unreachable. I only ask one thing from my students--come ready to learn and work so you can achieve. Nothing in life is free! It takes hard work and dedication to overcome!
