Miss Bari: Portsmouth tutor
Certified Tutor
I graduated from University at Buffalo (UB) with a Bachelor's of Chemistry in February of 2018. As a college student, I was enrolled as a pre-medical student. During my spare time, I engaged in volunteering and fundraising activities by helping others in need. I tutored my friends and younger students during the school year on subjects I had already completed. While achieving my undergraduate and graduate degrees, I worked part-time at Heritage Christian Services with disabled children. It was a very rewarding job because I was able to build a good rapport with individuals as a direct support staff member. In February of 2020, I completed my Master's Degree in Biology and began a career as a mathematics teacher.
My teaching strategies rely heavily on emphasizing the importance in my students' problem-solving skills. My methods involve real-world application, building self-confidence, as well as excelling in mathematics and science in everyday life. I teach not only a subject; but also, the importance of developing a "growth mindset". Lastly, I stress the significance of effective study methods and organizational habits.
As an in-classroom teacher, I taught 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade math, algebra 1, geometry, and algebra 2. Additionally, I hosted after-class zoom sessions during testing periods for those who were seeking extra help. I prepared middle school students for NYS exams and high school students for NYS regents exams.
Every student has a unique and individual mind that learns in different ways. I'm willing to help students reach their full potential and find what method works best for them.

I love hiking and exploring nature on my own. I find it very peaceful, away from the noise of society. I love reading non-fiction books and printing. So anything active and that requires me to move is what I love!
