Certified Tutor
Graduate of Morehead State University in 1991, with a Bachelor's Degree in Education (k-4) and fifth and sixth grades as self contained units, with an emphasis on mathematics. I continued my education at Morehead State University earning a Special Educational Endorsement for grades K-12, Fifth Year Program, equivalent to a Master's Degree, and a Rank 1.
Since graduating college, I started teaching for The Perry County School System as a special education teacher, beginning in August of 1992, I taught two years at Buckhorn Elementary and High School, 22 years at Willard Elementary School, and three years at West Perry! I taught school for a total of 27 years, working with multiple grades and subjects. I taught in settings where students come to me in a single classroom, and eventually moved into more collaborative settings, where I was able to teach and assist special educational students and general educational settings! I felt that collaboration was a better placement for all students!
I enjoyed teaching all students! I enjoy working with and teaching students basic academic subjects, and I believe that all students can learn! Students learn at different paces, skill levels, and some subjects and topics are easier for others. I use different methods of teaching, because all students learn differently! I love working with, helping, and assisting students learn content material. I love seeing students be successful at whatever they are working on!
I love to teach and tutor students in reading, writing, and mathematics!
I love writing because I love to see and read stories that students come up with using their imaginations, English, and writing skills. I love to teach and tutor students in Mathematics, because mathematics is a subject that you have to have a basic understanding of mathematical concepts, and build on them with each educational level and mathematics can be thought of as puzzles! Reading is an enjoyable subject because you gain experience with different kinds or genres of reading, you learn about different topics and subjects, and the questioning of reading varies at different levels!
