I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Music from Wayne State University located in Detroit, Michigan. I have since jumped 1,000 miles all the way to Texas and have gone on to earn my Master of Science in Psychology and am in the process of earning my PhD in Clinical Psychology from Texas A&M University. I wear many hats as a graduate student in clinical psychology, but teaching is perhaps my favorite role. I have always enjoyed working collaboratively with others. I am humbled when others entrust me with their education. As such, I take my role as a teacher very seriously. Most recently, I have taught college-level psychology courses including introductory psychology and elementary statistics. In 2017 upon earning my Bachelor's, I was an instructor for an SAT preparatory program. I spent the summer working with inner city high school students in Detroit and helped them learn and apply SAT test-taking strategies as well as fundamentals in Pre-Algebra and Algebra. Throughout my college career, I tutored students in psychology and music courses, primarily statistics, music appreciation and ear training. In high school, I tutored several students in Algebra who struggled with attention deficits. I helped these students raise their grades in their Algebra courses by providing individualized instruction and cultivating organizational skills. In my practice as an educator, I do not believe in simply giving the "right answer". I challenge my students to think critically about the problem/question at hand not only because I believe everyone has the ability to think critically, but also because this is the most effective way to genuinely learn. I strive to help my students become independent learners. Indeed, if there is one thing I hope my students learn while working with me, it is that they are capable of thinking critically and independently.
