I became interested in teaching after realizing how much I had benefited from excellent and passionate teachers. They exuded a real sense of enthusiasm for STEM, which inspires me to pass on that passion to future generations.
My love for STEM subjects started to develop during my high school career after discovering an aptitude for lab skills and scientific understanding. This drove me to study more, going on to gain a Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences and Psychobiology. Studying at Florida Atlantic University further developed my passion for STEM and taught me a range of transferable skills that I believe are fundamentally important to teach young people.
I have worked in a wide variety of industries and always find myself coming back to education, I am currently the Director of Education for a small non-profit children's museum. During my time in the classroom, I witnessed the challenges and rewards present in a school environment. Teachers need to be resilient particularly when working with students who find school difficult, do not want to engage and do not want to accept support. However, I always look forward to helping students and believe I could help and inspire students to develop their future aspirations and love for STEM!
