You've got questions? I've got better ones. I love helping students learn to ask the right questions because that's what learning is all about. I teach because I love to learn from my students... it's really all about me... but it can be all about you too. Let's learn together!
I graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia in 2014 and a Master's of Science in Chemistry from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio in 2018.
I have since acquired 18 months of combined industry experience as a chemical production operator, process development engineer, and research and development chemist.
One of my greatest strengths as an educator is my ability to show students "the whole picture", in other words, how the minute details of a subject they may be struggling with relate to the world around them i.e. why does this matter?
Having the opportunity to teach in graduate school was my absolute favorite part of my advanced degree journey. I discovered that I possessed the rare talent to generate questions from my students, not by lecturing, but by questioning them. I firmly believe that if you can get a student to ask questions about their own learning, you can get them to learn anything.
Generating comprehension through purpose in learning is the guiding light for my educational philosophy. With purpose comes motivation, and with motivation comes achievement. My best teachers were also my best motivators; I hope to establish a greater purpose for your learning so you will feel motivated to achieve your academic goals in a manner commensurate with your schedule and deadlines.
I aim to establish a relationship with my students so that I will also learn from them, not because I don't already know what I need to know to tutor them, but because I don't know everything either.
To teach is to learn and to learn is to teach so let's learn together.
