Certified Tutor

I am a graduate from University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I received my Bachelors in Elementary Education, as well as a minor and concentration in Psychology. I also earned my Associated in Arts from Forsyth Technical Community College.
I have worked in education for the last 8 years. I worked as both a substitute teacher for the first 3 years in grades K-8, as well as 4 years as a 4th grade teacher, and 1 year as a 3rd grade teacher.

I am passionate about helping students because I know the difference that extra time and attention can make in a scholars self confidence and success! There are people who have supported my education, and I want to be able to pass that along as well.

I have found that the fun of education is finding new and creative ways to learn and review concepts. Learning is more than just skill drill, it's learning games, and real life application of ideas. I enjoy finding ways to bring difficult concepts alive as we explore them in exciting and innovative ways. My favorite subject to tutor is math. Though concepts may seem tricky in math, there is always at least one more way we can view a problem, and the joy is learning which way to solve a problem will work best for each scholar. This is the area which I have spent the most time supporting scholars in during my career as a classroom teacher. Our scholars are the next generation, and I am blessed to be able to play a part in helping them develop the critical thinking and reasoning skills that will help them to be successful as they grow. In my spare time I enjoy going to the park with my daughter and puppy, finding and trying out new dinner recipes, crafting, and reading novels.
