Hello! I'm a graduate of Southern Arkansas University with a BSE in elementary education and middle school English. English has always been my favorite subject, but I also love science! With teaching experience since 1988, I've taught every level from preschool to 9th grade English!
The most experience I have is as a 3rd grade teacher for 4 years. I also taught 5th & 6th grade English/ Language Arts for 4 years., and Social Studies for two years at the6th grade level. I also taught a 5th-6th grade science class for a year while another teacher was on medical leave. As a Middle School English teacher, I taught 7th grade English for two years, and taught 9th grade English for a teacher who was on maternity leave.
My tutoring experience began in college when I was a student English tutor at the Tutoring Center at SAU. I've also had 2 years experience in Club Z In-Home tutoring, in which I tutored siblings one in 4th grade, and the other in 2nd grade. I believe that each student has the potential to learn. It is my job to find his/her best style of learning, along with my knowing both the strengths and gaps in the concepts that I'm trying to help them understand and teach them to master. I care for each student as if he/she were my own child. I promise to provide the best lesson and delivery to each student!
In my spare time, I care for my 5year old granddaughter. I also enjoy playing with our year old Boston terrier. For years, I've enjoyed Scrabble, poetry, and crossword puzzles! I also have an online fragrance business. Right now, I miss teaching and connecting with students! I retired 5 years ago, but prefer tutoring now! I hope I can help someone soon! Oh and I volunteer tutoring a 72 year old man to read. As you can see, I love to both tutor and learn!
