Certified Tutor

My educational credentials are in Business. I have two Bachelors, one in management and the other in Information Systems and General Business. I earned my MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Administration. The first 25 years of being in the workforce, I worked for chemical and grain manufacturing plants from Administrative Assistance work to Accounting to Supply Chain Management. I absolutely loved interacting with customers all over the world as I coordinated global shipments via export. During the economic downfall of the economy in the mid 2000's, I changed careers into Adult Education and Vocational Training. I first started off by teaching business courses, such as Economics, Financial Analysis, Marketing, Communications, Accounting, and Business Concepts. While teaching these subjects I also dived into teaching Cultural Diversity and preparing students to pass the HiSet/GED tests and vocational certification tests. I clearly saw a need to help educate students for the workplace in a way that would propel them into adulthood so they could sufficiently sustain themselves and their independence. Therefore, I don't believe in giving students a fish, I believe in teaching them how to fish. Just as students look for strong instructors, I look for students who want to challenge themselves on how to be a life-long learner, not me provide them with all of the answers. My favorite subjects to tutor are those in the Business sector. Why? Because Business majors have to be problem-solvers. After all, there is a business side to everything and every industry, including our individual lives. While I am extremely excited about how the generations behind me have grabbed hold of the concept of entrepreneurship, I also love showing them how becoming one with their journey to success has as much value as arriving at the destination. This is discovered by making an intentional decision to become a life-long learner.
