Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Poly Tech Humboldt (formally Humboldt State University), receiving my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and also my California Clear Teaching Credential. Shortly after completion of my credential, I joined the Peace Corps, where I worked with preschool teachers in Ecuador.
Upon return to the U. S., I taught bilingual classes in Salinas, California. I then went on to teach internationally, working in 6 other countries, teaching lower elementary classes of students whose native languages were one (of many) other than English. Always wanting to understand and learn more, I also earned my Master's Degree in International Education while overseas.
I do enjoy tutoring a range of subjects, however I am most passionate about Language Arts and Social Emotional Learning. With the skills of listening, reading, writing and thinking, it is my belief that any person can learn anything they want to learn, no matter what language the mother young may be. In addition to these Language Arts skills, one of the greatest things a child can learn are the skills encompassing SEL, which entwine an understanding around values and how benefit from them in order to understand how we relate to ourselves, each other and the world around us.
Learning to think, ask good questions and maintain a curiosity about the world can take young learners far.
