Dixie: Kenosha tutor
Certified Tutor
I have a Bachelor's degree in elementary education from Indiana University, a Master's degree in reading from Edinboro University, and a Doctorate degree in early childhood education from Walden University. I have been teaching young children for the past 27 years, with experience educating students ages 6-12. Additionally, I have four years of experience as an adjunct professor, teaching freshmen and sophomores beginning their quest to become educators. For the past 3 years, I have also been employed by VIPKID, teaching Chinese students to speak English. Because I teach mainly younger children, I tutor a variety of subjects at the elementary level: English, math, reading, writing, phonics, and ESL. While tutoring and teaching, I embrace a student-centered approach to learning, where students are active learners, rather than passive listeners. I base my teaching on the needs of each individual child to ensure he/she is progressing at an appropriate level. In my spare time, I enjoying painting, sewing, crocheting, cuddling with my pets, spending time with my grandsons, and learning Spanish.
