As an educator of 17 years, I have learned to ask lots of questions, listen and then respond to learners. I use a research, decide , teach framework for tutoring. I find learners' strengths and interests and apply them to help the learner grow in areas of struggle. I enjoy working with learners to help them achieve their goals and make meaning of their learning.
I tutor reading, writing, math, science and social studies for learners 5-12 years old. I have done an intensive training with the Orton-Gillingham Approach to reading and an intensive Writing Coaches training at Columbia University.
I have a Masters of Education with an elementary K-6 focus and a Educational Leadership degree. I have been a teacher of grades 1, 2, and 5, as well as a literacy coach, curriculum coordinator and Principal. My very first degree was a B.S. in Biology. I have worked as a science educator, as well. I have taught children in California, Ohio, Colorado, Egypt, Brazil, Qatar, and now hopefully you!

I love nature, hiking, camping, bird watching, flower identification and gardening. The connections in the ecosystem are so beautiful! I also love to SCUBA dive and travel. I have lived and worked in 9 states and 4 countries (New Zealand, Egypt, Brazil and Qatar). I find learning about people and culture fascinating!
