I am a PhD candidate at the University of Washington writing my dissertation on Caribbean literature. I currently teach college level academic writing courses. My writing courses focus on encouraging students to reflect on their writing process, to welcome feedback and revision as an ongoing part of writing and to deploy specific rhetorical (persuasive) writing strategies in the service of their arguments. In addition to a strong interest in writing and composition, I also love languages. I have a BA and MA from the University of Colorado in French language and literature and a C3 DALF certification in French. I have taught French at the Alliance Francaise of Seattle as well as the University of Washington and the University of Colorado. My teaching philosophy is student-centered, compassionate and empowering. As someone in the middle of a huge writing project (my dissertation) and someone who has learned multiple languages, I know that writing and language-learning can feel daunting. But with some patience, practice and perseverance (and a sense of humor) I know the students I work with can be successful in their language and writing goals. Looking forward to working with you!
