At this point, I may be a capable and experienced student, but a student I still am nonetheless. I have formal experience tutoring fellow students at a university level--at this point two years' worth working directly with both students and professors--but just as important as that, I understand just as well what it's like to need that sort of tutoring as well. I understand the importance of a non-judgmental atmosphere in which all questions can be asked without fear, of a friendly and empathetic peer who knows why difficulties arise and how to overcome them, and of a source not just of knowledge, but of help devoted to fostering true understanding unto long-term learning and growth. These I understand because I have experienced those needs before myself, and have thereafter dedicated myself to helping fulfil those needs of others as well.
