Certified Tutor

I graduated from the University of Rochester in 2015 with a BS in Neuroscience and a Minor in Psychology. In the fall of 2015 I joined the Neuroscience PhD program at Northwestern University. I specialized in using molecular biological lab techniques to study neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental disorders through animal models.

Along with my personal passion for science and learning, I also enjoy teaching others and getting them excited in STEM fields. this has led me to several experiences teaching a variety of groups. Outside of academics, I have experience as a Teaching Assistant for both undergraduate and graduate level science courses (Organic Chemistry Lab, Physiology, and Fundamentals of Neuroscience).

Through STEM outreach experiences, I have taught lessons to age groups ranging from K-12 to adults. Through the STEM Initiative group, I prepared and presented lessons and interactive demos to middle school students that highlighted topics in STEM fields. With the Northwestern University Brain Awareness Outreach (NUBAO) group, I have presented seminars covering topics of the brain to high school students. I have led Teacher Training Workshops, where we cover a topic of the brain so that a teacher can in turn present the information to their respective classrooms. At annual Brain Fairs, I have led multiple booths explaining science concepts to families and all age ranges.

I believe this variety of experiences gives me the ability to adjust my teaching style so that I can make the information understandable to all ages and experience levels. I believe that communication is most important in holding someone's attention and helping them learn. Hopefully this statement held your attention and I can soon help you learn too!
