Certified Tutor
I am a passionate educator and lifelong learner who has been in the field of education for over 20 years. After Receiving my Bachelor's of Arts degree in Psychology from Lehigh University and Master of Arts in Teaching from The Johns Hopkins University, I taught elementary school in Baltimore, Maryland. While I have taught all grades 2-6 in all core content areas, I most enjoy teaching students in grades 3 through 5 in language arts and math.
After I left the traditional classroom, I began teaching for a virtual school. After several years of teaching and curriculum writing, I transitioned to administration. In spite of my various positions, I have always fueled my love of teaching by tutoring elementary and middle school students.
I believe learning happens everywhere and as an educator my role is to help students connect what they are learning to their world. I maintain a student-centered approach to teaching where students are able to realize their fullest potential and value. I help students use their strengths to overcome their areas of weakness, build their academic skills, develop strong work habits and understand how they best learn to become lifelong learners. I am very fortunate to remain in contact with former students and see how I have impacted their lives.
In my free time I enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors playing tennis, enjoying the nice weather, and golfing. My family and friends would say my superpower is bringing people together with my cooking and baking.
