Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of both the University of New Mexico and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. I received a Bachelor of Science in elementary education with a focus in Language Arts from UNM and a Master of Arts in educational leadership from Golden Gate. I also recently received my TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language) certificate. After getting my undergraduate degree, I worked mainly in pre-K classrooms. I also was a home school teacher for a high school student who had some learning challenges and was trying to get her GED. I was a tutor for Eye Level Learning Center while finishing up my master's degree. After receiving it, I took a position as the children's minister at First Baptist Church. I was in charge of all of the educational programs for children from birth -- sixth grade including any family events. While I have had experience tutoring/teaching all of the elementary subjects, I especially like helping students with their reading and writing. Reading has always been a love of mine and I like sharing that with my students and helping them discover their own abilities in that area. When working with a student, my goal is to help them be successful. I do this by starting with what already interests them and building connections to the areas that might be a little more challenging. I believe education is very important and I want to instill a love of learning in my students. I want to help them build a solid foundation while they are young so that they can be successful later in life.
