I am a teacher, writer, and avid reader with 20 years of experience in teaching everything under the language arts umbrella. I have a B.S. in Secondary Education, an M.Ed. in Secondary Guidance Counseling, and an M.A. in English. Additionally, I am a National Board Certified Teacher, a trained AP Language and Composition teacher, a poetry recitation coach, and an award-winning journalism teacher. Finally, I have taught college level Freshman Composition I and II for six years via Western Kentucky University and Campbellsville University.
I enjoy meeting new people and helping them reach their reading and writing goals. You will find that I have an arsenal of techniques, and as I get to know you, I will be able to try various approaches to see what will work best for you. This helps me create truly student-centered, individualized approaches for all of my students.
I'm also experienced in working with students on the autism spectrum and with students who have a variety of learning disabilities, and I am comfortable with meeting individual needs in a sensitive and flexible way.

Mostly I spend my time puttering around the house when I am not at work. I am a member of a write to publish group, and I am an avid reader. I love spending time with family at the beach or at the dinner table, and my dog, my cat, and my garden keep me busy as well.
