I am a lifelong learner. When I was still in school, my parents would ask me about my day because they wanted to know what I was learning. We would discuss it at the dinner table and eventually I couldn't wait to share with them my new found knowledge. My dad always said he would much rather have a hard earned "C" than an easy "A" because he learned more when he worked harder for it. That has influenced my personal and professional life forever. A's are wonderful, but if you can't recall what you learned then what was the point?
I have over 30 years educational experience with students from early childhood to adults. I have my undergraduate degree in Special Education K-12, General Ed EC-8 grades, and my Masters degree in Instructional Technology. I am certified in ESL and Dyslexia.
I have taught my students that learning is not meant to just pass a test or get a good grade, learning is to be internalized and used to help them through their life to do whatever they want. I want my students to be lifelong learners and enjoy learning as much as I do!

I am an avid reader (mysteries, historical fiction, biographies, humor) and can spend hours visiting book stores! I love photography and collecting original historical photos. I enjoy history, archeology, and paleontology. Some of my favorite programs to watch are Expedition Unknown, Mysteries at the Museum, and River Monsters. I also love visiting all types of museums. I enjoy all types of music from classic rock to country. I use music in my teaching both as a calming background work environment as well as introducing classic music from artists we have studied such as Louis Armstrong to Aretha Franklin. My students love to play name that tune! My family and I take great pleasure exploring state and national parks, the Grand Canyon is my favorite with Palo Duro Canyon running a close second. I grew up camping and still love it to this day! Camping is a great way to enjoy the great outdoors and see so much of America. I am a huge animal lover of all types. I currently have four dogs, Chico, Wilma, Penny, and Freddie, all rescue dogs. My son and I volunteer at a local rescue organization walking dogs. It gives me tremendous pleasure to help them give animals a chance for a "fur" ever loving home. Lastly, I love to learn. I take a variety of classes for both professional and personal growth.
