Hi! This is Yuanyuan Zou (also Maggie). Here is a brief introduction to my educational background and working experience:

After graduating with my dual degree from Tianjin Foreign Studies University in China and Alma College in Michigan in 2017, I was offered a job as a Chinese Instructional Assistant at Alma College. Although I felt prepared at the beginning stage, I gradually felt a need for a more in-depth understanding of Chinese history and culture to better answer the questions my students raised during various class settings and cultural events. I then felt stimulated to continue my education in the fields of Chinese Languages and Literature. Therefore, I applied and got accepted by George Washington University. I have taken classes with professors from different departments on subjects including the history of the Chinese language, Chinese literature, Chinese drama and theatre, Chinese religions, and more. Meanwhile, I have also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of East Asian Language and Literature to further my training in formal language teaching and actively apply what I have learned from my supervisor and my coursework. After graduation, I have been working at Washington Yu Ying Public Charter School as a Chinese Teaching Fellow. During this year at Yu Ying, I have been observing and trained in areas such as Conscious Discipline, Micro Aggression, etc., which prepares me with the nurturing and inclusive teaching philosophy that would apply to my future teaching.

I also have a diverse undergraduate educational background in Journalism and New Media Studies. Since visual communication is becoming a more accessible way to enhance communication, this learning experience has prepared me well with multi-media fluency, computer literacy, and communication skills that are all necessary for language teaching programs.
