Mitchell: Kenosha tutor
Certified Tutor
I have been teaching in multiple areas of the music field for over seven years, from one-on-one tutoring to teaching full classes. I earned three Bachelor's degrees (music performance, music education, and music theory) from the Universiy of Idaho along with a minor in jazz studies. I also have my Master's degree in trumpet performance with a certificate in music theory pedagogy from UMass-Amherst. I absolutely love working with students on the fundamentals of being a musician, be it music theory at any level, ear training, music history, pedagogy, or just enhancing musical performance. I have helped many students excel on the PRAXIS Music exams and the AP Music Theory exam, but I also have found lots of success in working with young musicians! I have worked with students of all ages and backgrounds and am certified to teach in Washington, Idaho, and New York. It is my teaching philosophy that students need an environment in which to feel comfortable enough to make mistakes, as they are a critical part of learning. Being extremely well-versed in the fundamentals of music allow you to adapt your knowledge to fit any scenario, and that is my goal as a teacher.

Undergraduate Degree: University of Idaho - Bachelor of Fine Arts, Music Teacher Education
Graduate Degree: University of Massachusetts Amherst - Current Grad Student, Music Performance
As a professional trumpet player, I am a huge music geek. I will play any genre of music, but I most enjoy orchestral and big band jazz. I am an avid hunter of used records and am very likely to be found hunting through used record stores for hours on the weekends. I am an active composer/arranger as well as a teacher and performer. I also love to cook, especially when it is for other people as it allows me to feel more connected with my family (who live on the opposite coast!)
