Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, University Park where I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 2012. In 2014 I then obtained a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the California University in Pennsylvania. In addition to my teaching degree, I also hold a K-12 Principals Certification.
Before graduating from Penn State I was offered a full time kindergarten teaching position in a rural school in Western Pennsylvania where I have taught for the last nine years. Since my hiring, I have also taught first and fifth grade, providing me with a wealth of knowledge on the most effective instructional approaches used at different grade levels and my experiences have helped to develop my belief that student-centered, exploratory and cooperative learning, especially at the primary grade levels, is pivotal to the success of our children in the upper grades. While I tutor a broad range of subjects including everything from reading to math to science and history, I am most passionate about phonics and reading and helping children to solidify a solid foundation that will help them to succeed in all that they do in life. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, volunteering as an advisor and fundraising chair for a non-profit sports organization, and walking our little fur baby Sasha, a black lab we rescued as a puppy.
