Words and language are my passion, and I am here to pass on anything and everything that a dedicated practice of reading and writing the English language has taught me over the years. When I was a student in Elementary and Middle School, my parents (who were avid book-lovers and writers) thought I was a hopeless case: I hated reading. My journey from being intimidated by words toward and through earning my BA in English from the University of Kentucky, on to my daily reading and writing practices as a published writer now has been long, but has equipped me to meet my students wherever they are in their own reading, writing, spelling, and creativity and share what has been taught to me in a concise, meaningful, lasting way.

Undergraduate Degree: University of Kentucky - Bachelor in Arts, English
Most of my interests and hobbies are intellectual and creative. I read for multiple hours a day and dedicate myself to writing (primarily poetry) at least one day per week. I read very broadly; in addition to poems I usually have my nose buried in novels, books on religion and spiritual practices, memoirs, political texts, and critical writing on art and literature. I also love movies, getting outside for walks and hikes, cooking, and all things Appalachia.
