I graduated magna cum laude from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. While at VCU, I double majored in French and International Studies with a concentration in International Social Justice. While at VCU I held multiple jobs pertaining to the French language which gave me significant experience utilizing the language and my learning in the real world, a skill that I would love to transmit to students I tutor. I interned for the Richmond French Film Festival, served as a co-conference organizer for the VCU Africa Business and Entrepreneurship Conference in 2017, and worked mostly directly with student learning as a Research Assistant for the French 202 course at VCU. The main focus of my time working for the French 202 course was the development of Open Educational Resources (OERs); essentially developing a living, breathing online textbook made by students for students. I worked one on one with students to review their curations as well as to evaluate their engagement with the course. I have found that the mastery of a subject has just as much to do with the content of the course as with the method of learning the content in question. Adapting my teaching style to fit students' needs is an absolute priority for me! Most recently, I worked in continued education and find that my experience in this area makes me a great match for adults looking to pursue language learning. Personally, I have found that an all inclusive approach to learning has the most positive benefits; this could include listening, written, or reading exercises. Overall, I am passionate about helping students grow in the subjects they need and am willing to adapt my style, schedule, and methods in order to achieve that goal!
