Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Bloomsburg University where I received a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education. I received a job within one month of graduation and began my career as a teacher in September of 2004. I continued my education to receive a Masters of Curriculum and Instruction from Kean University. Over my 16 years of teaching, I have taught students in the classroom in grades 3-5. As a tutor, I have spent time with students ages 4-15. I have tutored many subjects, but tend to spend the most time tutoring Math and Language Arts. Math is most rewarding for me because it is a scary subject for many children. Once they realize there are numerous ways to solve a single problem, that fear slowly starts to ease away and you can dive deep into their Mathematical abilities. My favorite thing about tutoring Language Arts is doing book studies. You can learn and teach so many things through a book. I love to find one that interests the student and branch off from there. The possibilities are endless! I believe that all children are able to learn and expand their knowledge. It is up to us as teachers to find ways to spark their interest and teach them using topics they love. Learning should be something that both the students and teacher enjoy doing. In my off time, I love spending time with my four children, reading books and being outside.
