Alexandra: Federal Way tutor
Certified Tutor
I graduated high school in 2018 and plan to graduate college in May of 2022. I am a junior at Vanderbilt University, double majoring in Psychology and Medicine, Health and Society. I have a passion for tutoring, as well as a lot of work experience. In high school I worked as a paid tutor for middle and high school students in various fields of math, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus AB and Calculus BC. Additionally I volunteered as a tutor at a local underprivileged middle school and helped children in all subject areas in order to help them complete Course Recovery - meaning they already failed the course the first time around.
Through Vanderbilt, I am the Vice President of a tutoring organization called Pencil Projects which visits local elementary schools in the Nashville Public Schools District in order to improve students' literacy level. I feel very passionately about education and feel a strong pull towards tutoring. I also have experience tutoring a wide range students - from ages 6 to 18. I have a lot of experience with children and worked as a counselor for 7 to 9 year old girls at a 7-week sleep-away camp for 2 summers.
In the future I hope to utilize my passion for teaching and helping others through receiving my PhD in clinical psychology, running my own practice, getting involved with research and ultimately teaching psychology at a major university.
